Ü  Appalachia Service Project (ASP) In July 2008, 39 members of St. Luke’s youth group plus several adult group leaders are going with the First United Methodist Church of Westborough to Appalachia. ASP is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that fosters human development by addressing the housing needs of Central Appalachia.  Our goal is to make homes warmer, safer and drier for families in need, while offering transformational experiences for the families, volunteers and staff alike The young people will be fundraising to cover the cost of the trip. The first fundraiser, Nov. 17-18, is baking and selling pies for Thanksgiving, ASP is a wonderful program and your support is greatly appreciated.   For more information call Susan Black  508-898-2323.

New group started at Assabet Valley Pastoral Counseling Center in Westborough. It is a post-divorce group: ~ find reasons, stay positive, make it spiritually, find support from others, have a good life without a partner, being a single parent (if applicable) and any other issue raised by those in the group. Call Mary Tabor 508.366.4000 for more information.

CHILDREN OF HAITI : The Diocese Haitian Apostolate has a house in the Diocese of Les Cayes and provides help to many of the children going to school there. It costs $125 for each child at the public school. This pays for tuition, a school uniform, shoes, books and a hot meal. The Apostolate is trying to raise enough money to take care of 1200 children. If you want to help there are flyers in the vestibule (we will have the information here in this site by as soon as possible). This is a different program than the one of Fr. Frechette which we support in Port-au-Prince , but it is a very worthwhile one. Since we had extra money is our outreach fund, we have sent $1,250 to help ten children. If you feel this is something that you would like to do, please send the check directly to the Haitian Apostolate .

ADORATION TUESDAY 9:30AM – 9:00PM

CLOSING PRAYER AT 8:30AM

Come and spend some time with the Lord.

ADORATION AND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES

On Tuesday, we have a number of religious education classes meeting in the parish center, and sometimes the teachers would like to bring their students to church for either an explanation of some part of the church or for some devotion. Since we have had Adoration on Tuesdays we have not permitted this. Now it is suggested that we make 4 to 5 pm on Tuesday afternoon open to visits from students with their teachers. Reverence before the Blessed Sacrament is always required. The teacher should insure that the students speak quietly and make every effort not to disturb anyone who is praying in church. We will try this for a number of weeks and see how it goes. Please, if you have any comments, make them known to us in the Parish Office.

clockWe have many masses to choose from on the weekend. Click here for details.

music

Looking for more chances to sing? The funeral schola is called to sing for funerals in the church. We usually have @40 funerals a year. We would call a couple days before the service and if you are available you join us in this comforting ministry. As with all music groups in the parish, we always welcome new voices.

eucharistTuesdays all day:

Our Parish Day in the wilderness with God is Tuesdays.
We have adoration from after the 7am Mass till
9 pm each day. Evening Prayer begins at 8:30 pm with music and the prayer of the church is said at 8:45 pm. Come and spend some time with the Lord. To be with the Lord for fifteen or thirty minutes or even an hour is a wonderful addition to your week. How seldom do we take the time to just be quiet with God? Some times you feel the need to say something to God, sometimes you feel the need to say nothing. What is important is that you try to put yourself in his presence. Imagine that he is there sitting with you in church and go from there.
